The quote reminded me of something that my Mom said when she retired. She said that any money that she spent now would never come back. Her thoughts on that was because they had been saving prior to retirement and would no longer save on a regular basis save some coupon or store flyer sales.
I believe this. This is why I try to cut down my expenses, because it's a surer path to a 7% return than any market commodity I can think of at this time.
