"I never thought I had a problem. Oh, I noticed I tended to save more than the others in my crowd, but different strokes for different folks. Still, as we got older, I was always the one with the "new" used car, the on-sale suits, the buy-one-get-one-free groceries."
"The joking got a a little strained when I used coupons at restaurants and asked for a doggie bag (and I didn't have a dog). Folks pretended not to notice while I picked up coins in the parking lot. They seem embarrassed by the photographs of my vacations -- at home. I became an outcast, avoided by my free-spending circle."
"Today, I can admit its out of control. I'm a failure as a consumer. I save irresponsibly, and I fantasize about dumpster diving at night. That's what finally got me into rehab. I'm glad to be here."
