This money is invested and has been being added to at the rate of $5 a month. Because it's invested in can flucuate up and down. As of today 9/15/09 I'm upping the monthly automatic investments to $30 a month, so it might begin to grow a bit faster. Big Grin

$250.36 12/31/08
$254.57 01/31/09
$260.37 02/31/09
$265.38 03/31/09
$294.34 04/30/09
$327.81 05/31/09
$313.39 06/30/09
$333.76 07/31/09
$342.58 08/31/09
$373.94 09/15/09 today's balance

edited to add picture for Land Travel Dream which is currently going unfunded!

Today and yesterday were no spend days - making up for all the spending done while my California relatives were here visiting!

The most unusual savings fund! Please blog about the dreamy side of this goal someday. Smile

Oh, I looked back on your previous entries. How have I missed this, what with your amusing pictures and all? One houseboat even has a clothesline with laundry fluttering in the breeze. Happy idea. We joke about living on a river barge, so that DH can have his river and I can load it up with soil and have my garden.

Not sure how you missed it. I was unable to go with my $50 a month original plan as that was the time that husband got laid off. He's still off, so money has been tight, but $5 has been doable and now we'll see if I can squeeze out another additional $25 to get to $30 a month and see how it goes.

I am just a water lover and I want to live on it. No real estate taxes, doncha'know? Maybe I'd have this and/or a condo at the lake, not sure exactly how this 'dream' will play out. I also want a small Toyota like RV for land roaming and a regular small car or scooter for bopping around in my sunset years. Must get possessions down to reasonable size to make all that happen. Husband is land-lubber, so this may never happen, but I want to have $$'s available in case I end up widowed and able to fulfill this lifelong dream.

That sounds kind of weird, but what's a body to do when your spouse doesn't share your love of a certain thing????

When you get your houseboat, can I borrow it? I sort of need to leave reality right now and some seclusion on a houseboat would be heavenly!

I love the houseboat idea! This leads me to remember visiting a friend (of a friend) in Boston who lived on a houseboat in the Harbor and it was amazing. The major costs they mentioned were just docking fees and insurance, maintenance was pretty minimal most of the time!
